will deliver a lecture titled:
“Benzodioxol Derivatives: A Journey from Synthesis to Therapeutic Breakthroughs”

We warmly invite Faculty members, PhD candidates, students of the Faculty of Chemistry, and other interested individuals.

Prof. Sławomir Sęk, PhD, DSc

Biography

Abstract: This lecture delves into the synthesis and therapeutic potential of a novel series of benzodioxol derivatives, showcasing how these compounds could impact multiple biological targets. With a focus on approximately 55 newly synthesized derivatives, the session explores their biological activity through comprehensive in vitro and in vivo assessments, targeting AMPA receptors, COX enzymes, α-amylase, and cancer cell lines. Key highlights include benzodioxol derivatives with potent activity on AMPA receptors, suggesting potential applications in Parkinson’s disease treatment. Additionally, the aryl acetate derivatives in this series exhibit strong selectivity for COX-2 enzymes, indicating promise as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents. Certain acetic acid and carboxamide compounds also demonstrate significant α-amylase inhibition, with in vivo results showing superior blood sugar reduction compared to Acarbose.
